  • An Tir

So I went to my first practice on Thursday night, and I must say I was rather impressed. Carpeted floors FTW !!!! So as I got to talking with the rapier marshall I found out there there are 4 diffrent types of Authorzations.

    Your standard which includes Cloak/Buckler/Dagger/Offhand

2nd is Case... yes you need to get Authoried to fight with case

3rd is Cut and Thrust ( which is done all together diffrently and never on the lyst feild during a tourney.)

    and last one is Cane.

Now what is intresting is they DO NOT use epee at all on the tourney field which is good for me and the cloak in order to use it must be worn ( so my haneky doesnt pass which Im not complaining about. I hate Cloak ).The shire I am in is Wyrewood  and practice is only 5 minutes from where I live at now. And on Tuesdays 5 mins from my job. FTW again. They do use the white scarf/red scarf here so no major changes on that. And thier season is realtivly small and usually in Oregon which is an easy day trip.
I showed up and they introduced me. I got a ton of groans from people when they said I was a transient from Ansteorra. And then put to the test... Yeah I passed with ease.

They set up the gym into two sections. the first closest to the door is for A & S and the other half is split for heavy and rapier. then usually populace follows or rather meet and greet

  • Coffee girls and cops

So, yesterday I was on the way to go do a promotion for the store in Redmond. And of course I stop at the Barista and pick up some coffee  from the girls working the place. Sitting across from me is a Kent police officer and as I pull out he flashes his lights. Immediatly I pull over and he walks up to my window. Doing my normal routine he stops and asks .
" what is with the tags on the window?"
I reply with a small grin on my face
" Oh thats cause how they do it in Texas. It is easier that way I guess to help police officers run your car. "

And the swords in the back ?

Me again " Oh I do fencing for a re enactment group called the SCA. "

So we spednd 20 mins talking about Texas and the SCA which is weird cause when I get pulled over I assume I am getting a ticket.

Yeah sold the company to another company to be thier preffered mover. but all in all was a pretty good day yesterday... everything was messed up so it ran smoothly and normal as usual.

  • Fencing Mantra

Must be calm, cool, and collect when fencing new people. Must not let  on that I have had 2 years of fencing under my belt........
Yeah somehow I don't think I can play that card very well anymore.... Guess I test it Thursday. On a good note. There are two practices a week. 1 for Boeing workers on Tuesday and the other is the regular Heavy/light/A&S/Populace practice on Thursdays

  • Rain and other things

So, its cold here, lower 50's to be exact, and wet to top it off. Not so bad though, I do have a Bikini Barista to keep my insides warm with cups of coffee. Actully cheaper than Starbucks. Over the past couple of days while waiting for Comcast to come out I have read, 4 books from front to back and am currently working on Divine Comedy.
Work is slow so nothing new to report there save for a wrecked truck.

  • Seattle

So, I made it here alive. It took me 4 days and 3 hours and 32 minutes by my reckoning. But NOT without incedent. Firstly, I have to say seeing a tornado in the plains of Wyoming and getting stuck in a small dust storm, Albeit cool. Sucks majorly. But then as I am passing through Idaho and into Oregon, wile talking to my sister not only does one tire decide today is the day it will shread from my rim, but two tires. 200 dollars of my trip gone due having to get them both repaired. Coming from the moutains and into a flat stretch on 82W I find myself falling alseep on the straight away. And out of the blue I shout WAKE-UP JOSH. Or maybe it was a picture of my grandfather in the front seat who shouted at me. Regaurdless I stopped for the night at 4 pm having drove since 6 am and covered 500 miles or so.

I have to admit though, once I hit Washington and I-90W heading through the Snoqualmie pass and down into the basin for the final stretch. I was in complete awe as to how beautiful the drive is. Alot of mountains, alot of sun, and oh yeah did I mention the effin rain. Cold yes, but refreshing none the less. So now I seem lost, I am trying to find the events for the local group up here. So would someone please that lives in Seattle * cough* Chiara *cough* please guide me in the right direction XD.

I do not think I will be attending QC, and that is truly ashame, as I had longed to fight for her honor and name. But will keep everyone posted on when I will be down that way again. Two years of Ansteorran fighting, I have learned alot. Now I get to show em up here how we do it down there. Yes I am going to be quiet and shy and reserved, something my " Don " had taught me. But I am also going for the win. Something my friends taught me

Meh, I know it doesn't make sense. but then again When have you ever known me to make sense
